More Picture Collage Maker

I am at the lake right now, but yesterday was overcast and rainy so I had to find something to keep me busy. Little did I know that I would be starting a new obsession. If you read yesterday's post, you'll know how I started to play with an new app called Picture Collage Maker Lite (PCML). Even though it was sunny today, I had to force myself to stay away from it until after dark.

Figuring that my rationale to scrap would sound better if I were using camping-type photos, I searched through my digi paper collections and found Echo Park's The Great Outdoors mini-theme. Didn't take but two shakes of a stick to find photos too. Then I remembered a challenge by the gals over at Drunken Stampers... go give 'em some blog luvin' for their fabulous cards!

Suitably inspired, I dragged it all into PCML. It sure starts out the same way it does on my crafting table, meaning a completely chaotic mess. But it doesn't take long to resize and rotate elements, crop and mask photos and mats, and generally pull it all together to create something of beauty. As a bonus, my fingers aren't all inky at the end!

This is my uncle caught in campfire contemplation at our family gathering. The starry background paper, woodgrain mat, and various elements really came together in this A2 card front. I was trying for a postcard-like feeling, with the stars as stamps. Do you get that from this?

Now, I would never send out a card with my uncle on it, so I decided to use a photo of the moon rising over Kamaniskeg Lake... the same shore I weeded today. Isn't it amazing how changing the photo tones makes a huge difference to the whole project? Moving elements takes only a shift+click, drag and release.

The reason I downloaded PMCL was to plan projects while I was away. This app is so simple and fun to use that it looks like I'm going to be busy when I return!
